Johannes Neuer took office of the German National Library in Leipzig on 1 August 2023. The media and communication scientist succeeds Michael Fernau, who took up the post in 2008 and has now retired.
Warfront papers were newspapers for soldiers on the front, published both by official communication companies and by the soldiers themselves. The National Library of Finland has, together with the library of the Finnish National Defence University, digitised a total of 144 Finnish warfront papers from 1939–1945.

The National Library of Serbia has undertaken a significant project of publishing the collected works of Vladan Desnica, as part of its robust publishing efforts.
Vladan Desnica (17 September 1905 – 4 March 1967) was born into a Serbian Christian Orthodox family in Zadar. He pursued studies in law and philosophy in Zagreb and Paris, eventually graduating from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1930. He worked as a lawyer before transitioning to the civil service. Additionally, he was a skilled translator, proficient in Italian, French and Russian. In 1934, he founded the literary and historical yearbook titled Magazin sjeverne Dalmacije.
On 9 and 10 November 2023, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will be hosting Let’s Go Green! 2023, its second international green libraries conference.
