For the first time, five of Ireland’s national collecting cultural institutions have come together to examine and highlight their collective social and economic value.

Hosted at the NLI, the event brought together leaders from the National Museum of Ireland, National Gallery of Ireland, National Library of Ireland, IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art, and Crawford Art Gallery, alongside a keynote address by Katja Iversen, CEO of Museum for the United Nations – UN Live.
The event also marked the launch of a new report, which found that the five institutions generated an estimated €209 million in economic output, supported around 2,300 jobs, and welcomed more than 3.5 million visitors in 2024. The report also highlights the need for further research into the wider social benefits of cultural institutions, including their impact on wellbeing, education, and community cohesion.
