Laurence Engel welcomes Queen Camilla and the French First Lady at the BnF

President of the National Library of France (BnF) Laurence Engel welcomed her Majesty the Queen Camilla and the French First Lady Brigitte Macron on the 21rst of September on the Richelieu site. The visit was held in presence of the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak, Marcie Hopkins, Head of International Engagement at the British Library as well as various British and French representatives.

Gathering around 60 people from the French and British book sectors, some of the greatest treasures of the BnF were presented, bearing witness to the great diversity and wealth of the collections. Among them, William Shakespeare’s First folio and the Manuscript of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, had been selected.

In the Oval Room (Salle Ovale), the Queen and Madam Macron announced the creation of the Prix de L’Entente Littéraire. This new Franco-British literary prize will promote excellence in the Young Adult fiction genre.
