At the end of May 2026, the Government lifted the planning freeze on the conversion of the Post and Administration Building in Vaduz, thereby clearing the way for the next phase of the project. Detailed planning for the renovation can now begin immediately.

If everything proceeds according to schedule, construction work is expected to start in summer 2027 with the installation of scaffolding. The new National Library is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2029. With this decision, the Government has created the conditions necessary to move forward with the planned library project at the former Post and Administration Building in Vaduz.
