The BnF has awarded its 2026 Prize to the writer, essayist, translator and critic Alberto Manguel. The Jury’s Special Prize has been awarded to the writer, poet, artist and musician Patti Smith. This dual honour pays tribute to two exceptional bodies of work, as a gesture of openness and intercultural dialogue in relation to our documentary heritage, and is in keeping with the BnF’s mission to promote, preserve and pass on contemporary creativity.
