A Week of Books, Voices, and Power

The National Library of North Macedonia transformed into a vibrant cultural stage—alive with ideas, people, and celebration.

During the week from 20–24 April, they opened with an engaging public presentation, sparking curiosity and inviting the community into the world of books. Anticipation built toward 23 April—World Book and Copyright Day—when the library was honoured by the presence of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova and the Ambassador of Spain, Rafael Soriano Ortiz, elevating the moment to one of both national and international significance.

Throughout the day, the national library welcomed students, academics, and curious minds for immersive tours and encounters with knowledge. Director Nikchevski’s address reminded everyone of something essential: books matter, and reading remains one of the most powerful tools we have.

As the sun set, the energy shifted—books met beats in a dynamic DJ performance, proving that culture is not only heritage, but also movement, rhythm, and connection.

The celebration closed on 24 April with a powerful poetry night dedicated to Annie Ernaux, whose words continue to shape memory, identity, and contemporary thought.

A week where the Library was not just a place—but an experience.
