The National Library of the Republic of Moldova, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and in partnership with the National Children’s Library “Ion Creangă”, is organising the 2026 edition of the Regional Library Conferences from 28 May to 4 June 2026.

Held under the theme “Collection Development as a Foundation for Building a Sustainable Knowledge-Sharing Infrastructure”, the events are bringing together library professionals and local stakeholders from across the Republic of Moldova to promote professional exchange, innovation, and institutional cooperation within the National Library System.
As one of the key professional platforms within the National Library System of the Republic of Moldova, the Regional Conferences aim to support the implementation of the 2026 professional priorities by facilitating the exchange of expertise, encouraging innovation in library services, and strengthening institutional cooperation and partnerships across the library sector.
The conferences are held in person through four regional meetings covering the North, Center (two meetings), and South regions of the country. The events are bringing together representatives of public, departmental, and university libraries, alongside representatives of local public authorities.
28 May 2026 – North Region
Fălești, District Public Library “Mihai Eminescu” Fălești
Participants included representatives from libraries in Bălți municipality and the districts of Briceni, Florești, Edineț, Glodeni, Drochia, Dondușeni, Ocnița, Râșcani, and Sîngerei, as well as representatives of the Scientific Library of Alecu Russo State University of Bălți.
29 May 2026 – Center Region (I)
Chișinău, Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”
The meeting gathered departmental library centres from Chișinău together with representatives of libraries from Anenii Noi, Căușeni, Dubăsari, Hâncești, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Strășeni, Călărași, and Ungheni.
2 June 2026 – Center Region (II)
Șoldănești, Șoldănești Town Public Library
Participants included representatives from libraries in Rezina, Orhei, Criuleni, Soroca, and Telenești.
4 June 2026 – South Region
Cantemir, Cantemir District Public Library
The conference will bring together representatives from libraries in Ștefan Vodă, Cahul, Cimișlia, Leova, Comrat, Ceadâr-Lunga, Vulcănești, Taraclia, and Basarabeasca.
The Regional Conferences are maintaining professional dialogue, exchange of experience and promotion of good practices regarding the development of collections, digitisation of documentary heritage and facilitation of access to information.
The professional sessions also addressed topics related to the evaluation of public libraries in 2026 and the National LecturaCentral Program, 9th edition.
