The National and University Library (NUK) of Slovenia has started work on project task PN2 eKnjiga (PN2 eBook), part of the wider initiative Vzpostavitev, zagon in optimizacija upravljanja z enotno informacijsko platformo e-Kultura (Establishment, Launch and Optimization of the Unified Information Platform e-Culture).
Within this task, NUK will develop a new online portal for publishers that digitises key services, enables automated data exchange in ONIX format, and introduces a digital assistant. The project also includes a new NUK website, with an emphasis on publishing-related content and full alignment with WCAG accessibility standards.
The timeline foresees the redesigned NUK website going live in November 2025, while the publisher portal and digital assistant are expected to launch in May 2026. The overall project, which responds to the growing needs of modern publishing and cultural digitalisation, will conclude in June 2026.
In establishing the new e-Culture information platform, the National and University Library has joined as a partner, as well as the Museum of Modern Art, the Slovenian Theatre Institute (SLOGI), and the Slovenian Film Centre (SFC). The project is financed through the Recovery and Resilience Facility and co-funded by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Culture, and the European Union – NextGenerationEU, within the framework of Slovenia’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
