New Exhibition “Imaginary maps, Creating worlds” at the BnF

This exhibition is an invitation to visitors to embark on a journey to the boundaries of reality and fiction, exploring the links between cartography and the imagination. For while maps usually trace the outlines of known lands, they also give shape to imaginary territories that extend, interpret or personalise the real world.

From the Garden of Eden to Atlantis, from El Dorado to the world of Narnia, and from the realms of Game of Thrones to those of Final Fantasy, visitors will explore numerous cartographic masterpieces held in the BnF’s Department of Maps and Charts, as well as major loans from the Guimet Museum, the British Library, the Bodleian Library in Oxford, the Royal Library of Belgium and the Vatican Apostolic Library.

From 24 March to 19 July 2026: https://www.bnf.fr/fr/agenda/cartes-imaginaires
