Mary Queen of Scots’ Last Letter on show

The last letter written by Mary, Queen of Scots before her execution in 1587 has gone on display in Perth Museum in Scotland. This collaboration between the National Library of Scotland and the Museum gives people in Scotland a once-in-a-generation opportunity to see the manuscript, one of the National Library’s most significant treasures, up close.

Mary remains an iconic figure of Scotland’s history and culture. Her last letter, written six hours before she died, is on display as part of “OUTWITH: National Library around Scotland” – a special programme of loans, events and activities taking place at locations around the country to mark the National Library’s centenary.
