The Embassy of Denmark has selected “Thefts” by Thomas Korsgaard, translated by Rositsa Tsvetanova, to be read by the actor and director Petar Rusev in the “Todor Borov” Hall of the National Library.

This year Bulgaria joins with 22 books from 20 countries. On 24 September 2025 ten Bulgarian towns and one village will host well-known actors who will read extracts from contemporary European literary works, published after 2000 and in Bulgarian language. At every designated place one extract will be read continually at every 30 minutes from 6 to 9 pm. The audience will, thus, be able to move from one place to another, having the opportunity to get acquainted with literary works by authors from different European countries.

There are 22 reading nests in the capital Sofia, 7 of the locations are marked as appropriate for teenagers with readings of literary works suitable for that age and some will provide a sign language translation.

Contemporary literature, non-traditional places, well-known faces – this is the fourteenth edition of the Literature Night.

Information about all the books and readings in the capital city and around the country can be found on the Literature Night website.

The event is part of the Sofia Municipality’s Calendar of Cultural Events for 2025.
