Jan Seghers: Première reading from “Der Solist” (THE SOLOIST)

Begin: 26.01.2021, 19:30

End: 26.01.2021, 21:00

location: Virtual

Jan Seghers has presented almost all of his successful Marthaler novels at the German National Library. This time, the première reading will be given in cooperation with the Digital Literaturhaus in Frankfurt am Main. The author will be giving his first reading from “Der Solist” (The Soloist), the first volume of his new series featuring maverick detective Neuhaus, who comes from Frankfurt. Neuhaus is deployed to the newly established “Special Counterterrorism Unit”, which resides in a barracks on the site of the former Tempelhof airport. Neuhaus is an experienced detective, but his colleagues in Berlin view him sceptically. Only the young Turkish-German Suna-Marie is willing to work with him. Then a series of murders rocks the capital. The first victim is a Jewish activist, the second a Muslim lawyer; other murders follow. What do the cases have in common? Neuhaus, the “soloist” of the title, goes in search of answers. And in the Moloch of Berlin, caught between the past and the present, he struggles alone. Almost alone.

The talk with Jan Seghers at the Digital Literaturhaus in Frankfurt will be hosted by Alf Mentzer.

Event organised jointly by the Rowohlt Verlag, hr2-kultur, Literaturhaus Frankfurt and the German National Library.
