Frank Scholze at the Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs
On June 24, 2026, a meeting of the Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs took place at the Federal Parliament of Germany in Berlin. Guests from memory institutions were invited as experts to discuss the topic “Collective Memory in the Digital Age.”
Among them was Frank Scholze, Director General of the German National Library and Chair of CENL. In his statement, he emphasised: “We need to preserve both analogue and digital materials as the foundation for everything – only in this way can we build cultural memory. […] The establishment and expansion of a digital long-term repository as a central national infrastructure is of enormous importance for resilience and for international exchange.”
