Across These Islands: Shared Histories, Shared Futures is a new partnership between the National Library of Ireland, National Library of Scotland, National Library of Wales and the British Library, announced on 13 March 2026.

Backed by €750,000 from the UK–Ireland Cultural Co-operation Programme, the four libraries will collaborate over four years to connect people with the shared stories, languages and cultures of these islands.

The programme will focus on joint exhibitions, digital experiences and events; staff exchanges; and collaborative research on areas such as sustainability, inclusion and AI. It will also develop shared discovery tools, community panels, and accessible, multilingual content to widen public engagement.
