Organised as part of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the invention of photography, this exhibition traces the evolution of photography in Japan over the past 80 years through 300 works — including 250 photographic prints, mostly in black and white, and around 50 rare books from the BnF’s collections.

This exhibition brings together around a hundred artists: some who are now widely recognised on the international scene, but also others whose approaches and styles are well worth discovering.
