From her first engravings at the end of the 1980s to her most recent research, Françoise Pétrovitch’s multifaceted work questions with as much subtlety as acuity the universe of childhood and adolescence, femininity and intimacy. Navigating between interiority and exteriority, anxiety and lightness, strength and fragility, the artist questions the ways of being in the world. Her singular line criss-crosses the in-between and tells of the duality of existence. The BnF presents a hundred or so emblematic pieces of her graphic work: prints, artists’ books, drawings and sketches, old or very recent works, sometimes unpublished, in various formats and techniques.
