The opening of Brecht’s Experiments (Versuche) transformed NUK’s Main Reading Room into a vibrant meeting place for theatre, music and international exchange.
The evening featured welcoming addresses by NUK Director Dr Jana Kolar and German Ambassador Sylvia Groneick, followed by a performance by acclaimed actress Nataša Barbara Gračner. She interpreted an excerpt from Bertolt Brecht’s Life of Galileo—the very same passage she performed in the Main Reading Room 30 years ago, when the play, directed by Matjaž Berger, was staged there.
Music added another highlight to the evening, as Sofija Zavratnik Kain performed two iconic songs by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill: Die Moritat von Mackie Messer and Alabama Song.
The exhibition was presented by Iliane Thiemann and Noah Willumsen of the Bertolt Brecht Archive in Berlin, alongside co-authors Dr Aldo Milohnić and Dr Jakob Ribič. Designed by Maj Blatnik, the exhibition invites visitors to explore Brecht’s experiments and their lasting significance.
The exhibition is on view at NUK until 10 February 2027.
