Through a generous donation, the Liechtenstein National Library has assumed custodianship of the literary estate of the Triesenberg dialect poet Anna Hilbe (1922-2018). A farmer by profession, Hilbe composed poetry in the Walser dialect, some of which she also set to music.

Born as the youngest daughter of a farming family in the hamlet of Frommenhaus, she continued to manage the parental farm together with two brothers, while cultivating her literary interests from an early age. Initially writing in standard German, she soon adopted the Triesenberg dialect as her poetic medium. Her oeuvre encompasses themes of rural life, faith, death, family, homeland, and the seasons, as well as compositions for special occasions. Inspiration frequently arose during her daily work, with the poems typically committed to writing on Sundays or in inclement weather.
Hilbe achieved recognition both in Triesenberg and throughout Liechtenstein. She presented her works in collaboration with fellow poets and released audio recordings on cassette and CD. Her literary estate, comprising handwritten and dictated poems, revisions, correspondence, and photographs, constitutes a valuable resource for the study of the language, literature, and cultural history of Triesenberg and Liechtenstein. It is currently being processed archivally and will be made accessible to the public.
