KB National Library of the Netherlands proudly hosted the 3rd in-person meeting of the EEDI Network Group, titled “The Open Kick-Off Meeting”, from 25–27 November 2025.

Representatives from Bulgaria, Croatia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and North Macedonia, gathered in The Hague to strengthen international cooperation and shape the future of equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion in libraries.
The meeting started with sharing best practices as part of their mission to learn from each other and formally opened with inspiring remarks from Wilma van Wezenbeek, Director General of the KB National Library, in the afternoon. In her opening speech, Wilma highlighted the importance of collective action and innovation in the library sector considering the EEDI issues.

A major focus of the event was the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ OPEN Project, setting the stage for the next phase of development within the EEDI Network. With the group’s initial goals successfully achieved, a new chapter begins under the leadership of the Chair, Rosemarie van der Veen-Oei, who is set to elevate EEDI’s mission over the next three-year project cycle as well as the next term of the CENL EEDI Network Group.
The OPEN kick-off meeting marked an energizing step forward—strengthening partnerships, launching new initiatives, and reaffirming the commitment to building more inclusive library communities across Europe.
