“Child Emigration from Frankfurt“– virtual English version launched at German Digital Library

The German National Library’s German Exile Archive 1933–1945 has now developed a virtual, English-language version of the temporary exhibition “Child Emigration from Frankfurt”, which was on display in Frankfurt am Main from 2 September 2021 to 15 May 2022. The exhibition focuses on the so-called Kindertransporte (children’s transports). Between November 1938 and the beginning of World War II in September 1939, they enabled around 20,000 children and adolescents to escape the the Nazi regime. At least 600 of these children came from Frankfurt am Main. The virtual exhibition focuses on six of them. Escaping with the so-called Kindertransporte (children’s transports) saved these children’s lives; however, they were also separated from their families and became traumatised as a result.
